Christmas is just around the corner. Billy, an inventor (Zach Galligan), buys his son a cute little teddy-like creature, a furry animal of the Mogwai species. The salesman warns him that the pet must be raised according to strict rules. For example, the little animal must not be fed after midnight and must not come into contact with water. Due to a moment of carelessness, this is exactly what happens: contact with water causes the little animal to multiply and transform into a nasty monster. Suddenly, there are dozens of these creatures, spreading fear and terror throughout the small American town...
